Marilyn Washington: The Wife of our Pastor
Good evening brothers and sisters I want to thank you for praying for me, my shorts time at the emergency room in South Carolina, my heart was fluttering often and I wanted to get it checkout, I am one that have great faith in God and his word. I am grateful for his mercy and for his loving kindness, he have shown towards me and to all mankind. This weekend was a joyous weekend, full of many trials and tribulation, many distraction, and delay. God is a merciful and loving God, I have learned so much from God concerning people and this carnal world. When we fail to understand the scriptures we are subject to the spirit of ERROR and we MAY say Amen to anything that comes over the pulpit, before saying amen, understand what is being said. I am not saying everything that comes over the pulpit is wrong, John the revelator encourage the churches (Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. I John 4:1). We don't want to strengthen the hands of the evildoers, when a brother or sister are not corrected through an error that have been spoken over the pulpit that brother or sister become embolden and thinks what he said is true if not corrected. As men’s of God we must ensure what we say, teach, and speak must be verified by God's word. I must admit coming together for one purpose and that we all speak the same thing was a challenge, but God showed up greatly. We much not be silent or afraid to speak out against wrong, the righteous should rebuke and reprove the works of the wicked in every way possible according to scripture. We should always try to remove the confidence the wicked might gain by thinking they are right in the eyes of the Lord. There are many ways that the hands of the wicked are strengthened: when believers approve the works of the wicked; when believers remain silent concerning the wickedness of the wicked; and when believers lie concerning the works of the wicked especially by suggesting that they are righteous. The wicked only need one preacher who suggests that God approves of their wickedness to help them grow in strength. They begin spouting about how God made them that way or how God is pleased with them just as they are. They may believe they are okay, but they are in fact tottering on the brink of destruction. God is displeased with anyone who encourages the actions of the wicked (Proverbs 17:15; Isaiah 5:20). The wicked should be warned (Ephesians 5:11; 1 Timothy 5:20; Titus 1: 12-13). Consider Peter's words to Simon (Acts 8:17-22). As technology opens the door for more voices to be heard, it also opens the door for more voices to be approved by others. What are some ways in which we can approve or disapprove of the words and deeds of the wicked? Why is it so important that we not strengthen the hands of the wicked? Whose hands are you strengthening? Bishop James Washington
